The Dalai Lama appeals to Buddhists and to people of all faiths to help Tibet. Think of the freedom that you have to practice your religon...

"If we want to keep the excellent tradition
of Buddhism developed in Tibet alive,
it will depend on the existence
of freedom in Tibet." ~His Holiness the Dalai Lama

One time in France, there were some French Buddhists, a group,
some members expressed that the Tibet issue is political.

So their own interest, only Tibetan Buddhism.
Then I told them, "Do you pray every day, the flourishing Buddhism or not?"
Then they said, "Yes."
In that case, unless there is freedom in Tibet, then impossible.
The Chinese communist authority, they consider Tibetan Buddhist faith is source of threat of separation. One week ago I met one Chinese Buddhist who also speaks Tibetan.
You see, he just returned from Lhasa.
He mentioned one of the biggest monasteries, Drepung Monastery,
actually, Dalai Lama traditionally belonged to that monastery,
since the second Dalai Lama, so therefore, that monastery is the biggest monastery in the whole of Tibet. Number of monk students, from 7000 to 8000 before 1959.
Then, recently, I think, the last 9-10 years, around 600-700 monk students.
Now, this Chinese Buddhist, he recently visited there, only 70.
Not lack of Buddhist faith, but you see, simply, the Chinese authority eliminates Tibetan Buddhist faith.
The Canada Tibet Committee is working to help restore religious freedom to Tibet.

"I would like you to continue to work for the cause of Tibet's freedom with those who are already doing so."

~His Holiness the Dalai Lama
